Call of Duty 4 with modern war setting in development

Call of Duty 3 is barely out the door and a Ampednews source has already revealed Call of Duty 4 is in development at Infinity Ward, the development team behind the first two Call of Duty games. Listed are the first details:

* Call of Duty 4 will be coming to the PC as well as consoles. Where as Call of Duty 3 is only available on consoles, as well as the PSP.
* It will be based on modern combat, taking place on the battlefields of present day Middle East.
* While most shooters have two or three critical points on the head, Call of Duty 4 has 16. You can shoot the side of an opponent’s helmet to make it spin on their head, or knock the helmet clean off. Supposedly you will even be able to shoot an enemy’s ear off.
* Multiplayer features matches with 54 players.

While this info seems very plausible, according to Xboxic, Activision declined to confirm or deny its authenticity.

Some more details: In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare you’ll serve as part of the U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, and British S.A.S. to take on terrorists loyal to an aggressive Middle Eastern dictator. This war on terror must be fought all over the world — in locations as diverse as vessels at sea in the North Atlantic, secret terrorist cells in London, the urban streets of Eastern Europe, and, of course, the Middle East — as you try to stop a terrorist coalition from using its deadly chemical arsenal.

As a pilot in an Army attack helicopter, you’ll fly over cratered urban environments — with rocket-propelled grenades to boot — before you rope down as part of a Marine platoon to engage in close-quarters combat in a very different sort of environment from Call of Duty 2. It’s in this door-to-door implementation of battle that similarities to Rainbow Six 3 and Splinter Cell start to become apparent as you fight in squads, rappel down walls, and clear rooms with silenced guns, tear gas, flashbangs, and various specialized goggles. That doesn’t prevent you from utilizing all manner of authentic modern weaponry, however, including automatic grenade launchers, mines, and machine guns.

Modern Warfare will also feature deformable environments, where you can kick down and blow up doors, or take it to another next level with destructible walls, roads, buildings, and bridges. You’ll also be able to block doors with heavy obstacles like vehicles or furniture and block windows from grenades with a little chicken wire. But you’re not just limited to shooting what’s within your firearm’s reach: you can call in and laser-sight air strikes to knock out those pesky enemy tanks and sniper’s nests, too.

Stay with WWII, I mean make the frickin pacific coast wars please, ima jima , and escpically pearl harbor like on ps2 medal of honor rising sun , just with better graphics , please dont go to the future, and hell lets go back to russia, i really enjoyed those levels, and as a bonus level after beating the game maybe you could be a jap in a plane bombing us lol that would be crazy

Yes, finally no more WW2 crap!!

Modern combat is where it’s at,I hope they make it like BF2 but with better physics and graphics like Crysis!!

It would be best if Activision were to gradually work up through the time line in their Call of Duty series, gradually building up to modern warfare.

I like the idea of the ear being able to get shot off. SWEEEEEEEEET. But I don’t like the idea of CoD4 being set in modern days. There are too many of those games around. I think they should keep focussing on WW2. There’s plenty more to put into games about WW2. Like dogfights (with planes), trenches, bigger beach in Normandy ’cause the one in CoD2 wasn’t as I anticipated, … There’s a whole 5 years you can pick events out of. So by this I leave you. P.S.: If anyone from Infinity Ward or Tryrarch see this pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaase put these features in CoD5 and make that for PC. I’d be much obliged. And if you can also publish CoD4 on PC. I believe in you guys. Thanks.

O yeah and please make the shooting ears of the enemy is also a multiplayer feature. I really wanna shoot the ears of my friends and make their brains splatter all over the wall. O shoot their stomach with a tank so the bomb goes straight through them and destroy the tank they were defending. I hope you keep this in mind when making CoD4. P.S. In my last message I cocked up instead of CoD5 in mean CoD4 and with CoD4 in mean CoD3.

THANK GOD ITS ON PC can’t stand playing first person shooters on the Xbox360. Also my problem with the whole pacific and asian campaign is that the Game companies seem to have a really hard time makeing trees. if they want to do campaigns there they will have to really update the way trees look. If they do use these other wars besides ww2 make sure that its one war…it would be weird to go from ancient ww2 weapons to fancy weapons from today. Last thing is that they should put in a little more tolerance for cheating on the campaign, even cheat unlocks automatically upon winning the campaign.

Hey guys, I think they should keep call of duty 4 In world war 2 becuase if activison made it modern warfair then i would quit playing call of duty. I have a call of duty united offensive / call of duty 2 clan and if they do make call of duty 4 they should atleast make an expanstion pack for call of duty 2 with jeeps , taks , motorcycles and maybe those german jeeps like kubelwagen and civilian cars. that would be funny. I fell a bit betraded by activision if they do this but i will give cod4 a go if it is modern warfair. Like this other guys said call of duty 4 will proberly turn out crap like battlefield 2 wich i played before and couldent understand one bloomin thing of it (so hard i hate it)

Well if there are any guys from activison / infinity ward pleas read this. You never know, once they relice one game they start work on call of duty 4 about a week later so it might be to late but i will try and contact infinity ward becuase once of my family works there so i will try and contact him and tell him your requests if i can

the heck with modern warfare just stick with ww2 and maybe they should make a story line for the nazis, it would be cool to play as a nazi, to get a feel of what the germans went through and how they felt that would be awsome and while ur at it throw in some dogfight levels and some sweet battleship battles
