Call of Duty 3 is barely out the door and a Ampednews source has already revealed Call of Duty 4 is in development at Infinity Ward, the development team behind the first two Call of Duty games. Listed are the first details:
* Call of Duty 4 will be coming to the PC as well as consoles. Where as Call of Duty 3 is only available on consoles, as well as the PSP.
* It will be based on modern combat, taking place on the battlefields of present day Middle East.
* While most shooters have two or three critical points on the head, Call of Duty 4 has 16. You can shoot the side of an opponent’s helmet to make it spin on their head, or knock the helmet clean off. Supposedly you will even be able to shoot an enemy’s ear off.
* Multiplayer features matches with 54 players.
While this info seems very plausible, according to Xboxic, Activision declined to confirm or deny its authenticity.
Some more details: In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare you’ll serve as part of the U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, and British S.A.S. to take on terrorists loyal to an aggressive Middle Eastern dictator. This war on terror must be fought all over the world — in locations as diverse as vessels at sea in the North Atlantic, secret terrorist cells in London, the urban streets of Eastern Europe, and, of course, the Middle East — as you try to stop a terrorist coalition from using its deadly chemical arsenal.
As a pilot in an Army attack helicopter, you’ll fly over cratered urban environments — with rocket-propelled grenades to boot — before you rope down as part of a Marine platoon to engage in close-quarters combat in a very different sort of environment from Call of Duty 2. It’s in this door-to-door implementation of battle that similarities to Rainbow Six 3 and Splinter Cell start to become apparent as you fight in squads, rappel down walls, and clear rooms with silenced guns, tear gas, flashbangs, and various specialized goggles. That doesn’t prevent you from utilizing all manner of authentic modern weaponry, however, including automatic grenade launchers, mines, and machine guns.
Modern Warfare will also feature deformable environments, where you can kick down and blow up doors, or take it to another next level with destructible walls, roads, buildings, and bridges. You’ll also be able to block doors with heavy obstacles like vehicles or furniture and block windows from grenades with a little chicken wire. But you’re not just limited to shooting what’s within your firearm’s reach: you can call in and laser-sight air strikes to knock out those pesky enemy tanks and sniper’s nests, too.
The first trailer for the PC, PS3 & Xbox 360 game:
hey guys give the game a f*cking chance will ya i mean its not out yet how do you no if it is going to suck or not furter more how do you no that its based off a fake war… iraq…afganistan….pluse as much as i hate to admit it there are other places that are at war…russia…the koreas…cambodia…THE F*CKING WAR ON TERROR ohya get over it the game is in modern times they are not gona change the becase some nobody *sshole dosent like it so buy the game or dont………f*ck england
We’ll soon find out if the new dog will hunt.
I hope they do not try to impose the Tom Clancy/SWAT-like tactics upon us. Multiplayer MUST support at least 16 this time. Would like to see split screen/2 players per console for LAN or online play. Halo has this. A friend can play along side you who may not have a console of their own.
Whats your problem guys? I mean really. I think it’s awesome that IW is making this a modern warfare game. Yeah sure, we all loved the WWII settings and weapons. But you know what? The title is Call of Duty, not CoD games all about WWII. If any of you had done some research you would have known that Infinity Ward was planning on making a modern warfare CoD since they were developing the first one. And whats all this talk about tons of modern war games? there is battle field and a bunch of tom clancy games. Trust me this aint going to be a tom clancy special ops junk heap. Hell if you really look at it how many friggin WWII games are out there, about 7 different medal of honors, brothers in arms, the 3 cod’s, as well as a bunch of other less knowns. Give Infinity Ward a chance people, if you really liked their first games believe in them enough to give this one a chance.
hear hear
i think the new cod 4 looks cool and im going to get it but i still think they should stay in the world war 2 era
A real good game would be a F*King civil war in New York or L.A. against terrorist and it would be the marines or army and they would join forces with the street Thugs, drug dealers, Pimps, KKK, Blacks, I don’t freaking now exactly but; everyone fighting together. everyone together to bust them out of US soil something unimaginable.
Call Of Duty 5 The Fight For Freedom. Mo** F**
DUDE…YOU COULD PLAY UP TO 4 ON ONE CONSOLE ONLINE IN COD3
yo call of duty 1 and 2 were f*cking awesome.. cod 3 sucked balls. i am so glad that they switched it back to the original developer crew. i can’t wait to play it. however, making it modern, especially with that name, makes it sound like infinity ward is trying to copy the current GRAW series, which could result in a “hit or miss” type of game. i hope it is as good as it is displayed to be.
however i think the real reason this game was so good to the gamers was because the weapon selection created somewhat of a stratedgy to the game. However when u look at the current “modern” warfare games, they are all the same automatic, scoped guns. i really think that this might take away from a team based stratedgy and turn it into a “hold the trigger and run” type of game. Personally, call of duty 2 was a much better game than any other FPS’s i have ever played. Yes that includes DOOM, halo C.E.& 2 and the Rainbow Six series. That game was just so badass and trhe developers need to get a fat ass check and some hot ass bitches for putting togehter that blockbuster game.
Personally COD3 is just as good or better than previews COD. Just because you suck doesn’t make the game suck, Its a Kickass game, And for thous that haven’t seen the COD4 previews, better check them out I think it looks interesting, so we just have to wait and see.
