Top 10 Wii facts you may not have known

Nintendo WiiFor those of you not so in the know, Joystiq who already got their Nintendo Wii this weekend, lined up some facts they found out while tinkering with it. Here’s the list.

And if you want to know even more. GameSpot has a great Wii walkthrough video.

1. It doesn’t play CDs, but it plays AVIs off your digital camera’s SD card.
2. The flaps that protect the Gamecube controllers and memory card slots are removable.
3. Wii Sports includes training and workout modes.
4. You can let one remote control all four players in Wii Sports: Tennis.
5. It takes five pieces of heart to make a heart container in Zelda: Twilight Princess.
6. The box includes two clear plastic holders: one for the sensor bar and another that acts as a stabilizer for the thick, gray console stand.
7. When used as a pointer, the Wii detects how far the remote is from the sensor bar.
8. The system keeps track of your cumulative play time for all games, and logs it on your Wii’s daily message board.
9. The standard A/V cables that have worked on every Nintendo system since the SNES do not work on the Wii (the system-side input is different).
10. The system doubles as a great whiteboard.

The A/V Cables don’t work! Travesty, nay, Heresy!

supadupagama: hey, we don’t mind you copying our list, but we would like a little link love up there!

Hey Chris, I’m shooting you an email in a minute, but wanted to give a quick reply to say that was an accident. I had already put up the “Joystiq” name in the first sentence, but forgot to put in the link to your article, my bad! But it’s fixed now, great info :)

Five Pieces? :O Not the standard Four now?

And Great to see that it tracks the gameplay time:P something that i like a LOT!

And NOOoooooooooooooo the standard A/V cables dont work  But the Good news is that Wii is going to come packed with a Component cable… Right?… RIGHT??? :?

Reeteshinator, yep it comes with AV cables in the box.

I mean the Not the standard one with Single cable for Video… the one with THREE ables for video and two for audio… (the ones which allow us to have progressive scan) :?

so somebody straighten this out for me… if i buy the Wii, go home, take it right out of the box, am i going to be able to play it, or am i going to need to wait for whenever they come out with cables???

oh- and how does the whole downloading old school games work?–thanks

Does anyone know if all the gamecube games work on wii I tried to play Godzilla destroy all monsters and it would not read maybe its just dirty or to scratched but when I put it in the gamecube it loaded just fine

Well you are stupid wiichris, they all work and the gamecube may read it better but I suggest cleaning it throughly.
