PS3 lines already forming in America

Nine days until Sony’s PlayStation 3 launches in America, and lines are already forming. A CAG forumer went to Best Buy this morning and saw about 7 people waiting outside. He went inside and one of the workers told him that they had been there since Monday. He immediately pondered: “Do these people have no lives?”

Of course the life of the waiting-in-line-for-almost-two-weeks PS3 fans isn’t made easier by a bunch of people coming to Best Buy and making funny remarks like: “I hope you guys brought enough food!” Another one said, “Where is the line for PS4? Is it on the other side?”

I wonder what life would be like if you had almost two weeks to just wait and do nothing. Do they take a holiday for this, or are they unemployed, at least the latter would make some sense, they could sell their PS3 on eBay. But these seem like PS3 fanboys, and die-hard ones at that. Hopefully for them they won’t be disappointed on November 17.

Some people need something to do, and rather than work, they’d rather camp out at Best Buy before promptly returning to mommy’s basement to play PS3.

Indeed, clearly a stunt paid for by Sony. Common guys, don’t believe this kind of PR…. The cheapest way of getting publicity for Sony, pay a couple of fat guys, take some pictures and hey-presto, free stories all around.

Gotta say, though… Many of these folks aren’t stupid. There was a story on the news here locally about a kid when PS2 came out who was in line, and someone came up and offered to purchase his spot. The kid refused until he talked the guy up to $900. He took the cash, and then went back 3 spots in line and stood with his dad. They purchased the limit of 5 each, and sold them on eBay for a 700% profit. Not all of them are stupid.

Stephen, what the hell at you talking about? US inflation rate is not even close to that!!

According to the official US BLP CPI calculator (http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl)

The inflation has been $50, not $300. This is a ridiculously expensive device filled with bleeding-edge technology!!

I have a 1st Gen PS2 it functions, but since there is such new tech. in this new system I’ll wait ’til march like I did last year for the 360 to make sure I don’t have to go through the hassle of returning it.

It’s crazy to stand outside like this when it is inevitable that we will all have the damn thing!

only 400,000 of the 300,000,000 US population will own one right off launch day….in my hometown at walmart-only 20 were preordered for an entire 3 months! I really am disgusted with sony-and i plan on NOT getting one AT ALL. if i did i would sell it on ebay for probly a triple profit.

It is sad that these idiots are waiting for such a crappy system….You could buy a decent gaming computer with the money you saved by not buying the console.
