PS3 lines already forming in America

Nine days until Sony’s PlayStation 3 launches in America, and lines are already forming. A CAG forumer went to Best Buy this morning and saw about 7 people waiting outside. He went inside and one of the workers told him that they had been there since Monday. He immediately pondered: “Do these people have no lives?”

Of course the life of the waiting-in-line-for-almost-two-weeks PS3 fans isn’t made easier by a bunch of people coming to Best Buy and making funny remarks like: “I hope you guys brought enough food!” Another one said, “Where is the line for PS4? Is it on the other side?”

I wonder what life would be like if you had almost two weeks to just wait and do nothing. Do they take a holiday for this, or are they unemployed, at least the latter would make some sense, they could sell their PS3 on eBay. But these seem like PS3 fanboys, and die-hard ones at that. Hopefully for them they won’t be disappointed on November 17.

A buddy of mine started working for one of those big game companies that starts with E, and from what Iâ€™m told the PS3 is a joke. Its true it has the cell processor but from what Iâ€™m told theyâ€™ve only given developers access to 2 maybe three cells to do development work for, and the rest are kept a trade secret by Sony. So without the extra cells no games can be written to totally utilize the device, and in fact it runs way slower than the Xbox 360. With a price tag of $500+ I really donâ€™t see all that much competition getting one on the day of release, but oh yes, let us not forget Sony didnâ€™t bother making enough for all 8 people waiting in that line.

Let’s put this in perspective: I saw people camping out at the local theater in a relatively small town for “Snakes on a Plane” for 3 days…… 3 days! I assure you that the ps3 is at least 3 times as good as “Snakes on a plane”.

It looks to me like the first guy in line has been building his fat reserves for the past few months so he could go without food for the week and a half hes waiting for the ps3

Ok, for all you who don’t know why some of the people are doing this. The reason is that the PS3 is going for about 300% of retail price on ebay! I’ve seen it as high as $1,700!
