PS3 lines already forming in America

Sony PlayStation 3Nine days until Sony’s PlayStation 3 launches in America, and lines are already forming. A CAG forumer went to Best Buy this morning and saw about 7 people waiting outside. He went inside and one of the workers told him that they had been there since Monday. He immediately pondered: “Do these people have no lives?”

Of course the life of the waiting-in-line-for-almost-two-weeks PS3 fans isn’t made easier by a bunch of people coming to Best Buy and making funny remarks like: “I hope you guys brought enough food!” Another one said, “Where is the line for PS4? Is it on the other side?” :-P

I wonder what life would be like if you had almost two weeks to just wait and do nothing. Do they take a holiday for this, or are they unemployed, at least the latter would make some sense, they could sell their PS3 on eBay. But these seem like PS3 fanboys, and die-hard ones at that. Hopefully for them they won’t be disappointed on November 17.

And because those lines aren’t that interesting, we’ll add the two latest PS3 commercials for your viewing pleasure.

yeah, i actually stood in line for 12 hours for my first PS2, that was the first console i ever bought myself, it worked just fine untill i sold it for $200 right before the price drop ,LOL, sad to say i don’t play games anymore and would only stand in line for a resale opp.

Maybe Ebay is in collusion with Sony, lol.

Sony: “Psst…hey…we’ll purposely lie and say the supplies are short, and you guys get to make the extra profits. We’ll take a 20% cut” =D

Lines started forming here in Philly this afternoon as soon as a news story got out that the initial shipment was going to be smaller than anticipated. By the time I got off work and went to Best Buy and Target to ask about when people would be allowed to start lining up, there were already tent cities set up all over the place. It’s all about the ebay profit with these people willing to camp out. I was willing and able to do it since I get 6 weeks of paid vacation a year and I still have several days to burn before the end of the year, but by the time I started looking into the situation I was already too late. I predict it’s going to get pretty violent this Friday and here’s why: an annoncement was made earlier today that EB and Gamestop were only going to get half of their expected units in on Friday. Many people have already run their ebay auctions on the premise that they will have a system on Friday, telling bidders that it will be shipped out on Friday after they pick it up, becasue they pre-ordered and were told earlier that they would make the cut. Now, you have several people that have a buyer lined up and may have gotten an unfortunate call from EB or Gamestop today telling them they won’t have a system now. It’s going to seriously hit their pocketbook if they can’t deliver a system to their buyer this Friday, so there’s going to be some desperate people running around Friday morning trying to come up with a system by any means necessary so they can make good on their auction, or else they will have to refund the buyer, still pay ebay a percentage of the final sale price, and eat the cost of a PS3 they probably didn’t want to begin with and not even see until March/April of next year. If you’re going to be standing in any of these lines, you better have a plan on how to get out of that place without getting mugged on Friday morning.

I hope most of you realize that at least half of the people waiting in these lines are going to scalp them. I wouldn’t call them idots, I would call them entrepreneurs for taking a chance to get paid.

As regaurd to post 135. I am going to WalMart tomorrow and I am packing a knife….just like you said, people may get desperate. You never know.

Now we can all stand around and LOL and OMG that this is just about a video game system but in a world that we are in can you blame me?

No CK, they ARE idiots. If they got a job and worked that entire time they would make a hell of a lot more money than what profit they will make off of the ps3.

Kyle, after today I agree with you. I went by the PS3 wait line today at WalMart and said “Hey somebody sell me a playstation!” Nobody moved. I said “Is this the PS3 line?” Nobody said anything. I asked one more time and 2 people said yes and one lady smiled. Everyone else looked at me like I was going to take their spot in line. I was only joking around with them and even though they were the jackasses, I drove away feeling stupid.

The joke is on them however. While I was inside I went to electronics heard a manager standing with a Sony rep. They only got 4 units in that store and only 2 were the higher end. So LOL at those 10 people outside.

I just cannot get over the rush! All I know is that the ones you buy later will play the same as these. Also I work at 24/7 Wal-Mart. The employees in our store cannot even clock in for work, without trying to crawl over those who are waiting. Our store only get 6, and won’t those go to the first 6 in line ? I wish the other 50 were waiting OUTSIDE and freezing their butts off, like all the other idiots around the world!
