This summer Sony created a training website for Canadian Wal Mart employees. The access codes got leaked when a store visitor saw a manager put up internal documents around the store.
After logging in, Sony marketing spin quotes can be found while employees read, learn & test their PS3 knowledge. Here’s the real gem:
“Welcome to your PS3 Retail Online Training. We trust that you will find the following information valuable and assist you in understanding and explaining PS3 Technology to your customers and staff. … The Cell Processor is essentially as powerful as 3 Xbox 360 CPU’s or 35 PlayStation® 2 CPU’s”
And you wonder why store clerks so seldom know what they are talking about? How in the world is “The Cell is actually 7 SPU’s (Synthetic Processing Units) each running at 3.2 GHZ” supposed to inform customers? Here’s a screenshot (click to enlarge) of one of the tests where employees can win prizes if they get all the answers right.

Oh and by the way, most developers say that the horsepower inside both the Xbox 360 and PS3 will be comparable a few years from now as it’s all about what they can get out of their processors to use in-game. That’s a good thing and also why Gears of War look prettier in graphical detail than any PS3 launch games shown so far.
A direct quote from Silicon Knights president Denis Dyack says: “The 360 and the PS3 are equal in power in my eyes,” Dyack says. “Maybe the PS3 has more processing power. The 360 has more available memory. It’s pretty much a net, net. The public perception of the PS3 was that it was much more powerful. To developers, they look even.“
Some XBoy working for Wallyworld leaked this material I myself will think it questionable that the PS3 is even 2 times the 360 in processing power. Perhaps the comparison is given to the cell having 9 cores and the 360 having 3.
Just please dont quote the dyak idiot one sentance says xbox has more available memory then another he states 360 not enough memory to show 1080p.
1080p was never a “MEMORY” issue you retarded baby f*cker… I don’t think anyone is doubting the 360s ability to display in native 1080p now that the feature has been enabled via the Xbox Live Fall Update.
And just to clarify the Cell a bit for the c*ck s*cking retard that left the first b*tchy comment. An SPU is NOT the same as a CPU. The SPU’s all reside on one chip and do not work independantly of each other (not to mention not ALL of the SPUs on the PS3 cell are in use- just look it up). The Xbox 360 has 3 true cores running code independantly of each other. I’m just excited to spend $650 on a PS3 an have a fragmented online experience and up to 9 minute load times… Should be f*cking sweet!

Bias much?
I’m not sure why people are acting surprised. 1080p is the future and thats the PS3. We all know that the 360 can’t hold a candle when it comes to power of the PS3. PS3 FTMFMFW
There is no 360 game that 60fps and that no next gen. Shit the 360 can’t even handle 30fps. 60 fps ftw. the PS3 is a Monster and thats a fact as we all know.
…and another one.
sony needs to replace their entire marketing department and whoever else is involved with pr. that is a straight up lie. wow.
the cell is not comprised of 9 cores. it, as stated before, is a dual-core processor with seven spe’s. each spe is dedicated to a very specific task and can not execute any type of code efficiently. 360 has a 3-core processor that can compute 6 threads per clock cycle through hyperthreading… the key part being that all 6 threads can be anything, perfectly useable for programmers. the spe’s of the cell are limited in functionality. one is a glorified sound processor, and the others are just as narrow-focused. both cpu’s are ungodly fast for gaming, but neither is noticeably superior to the other. gears of war… period.
Sorry - the PS3 cannot do 1080p for any meaningful game with any desirable level of textures. Sure, both the PS3 and the XBOX 360 can do 1080p if the game is pacman or tennis but if you want a real game with nice textures it isn’t going to happen. R:FOM is proof of that. The trade off in textures will actually make the game look worse.
COD3 runs at 60FPS on the 360 and 30FPS on PS3….besides, we shouldn’t really care about anything more than steady 30 Frames Per Second. In my opinion, keep 30 FPS and use the rest of the power on other things such as physics, gameplay and graphics. 30FPS is FINE.
Oh ya, and my 360 runs 1080p too.
By the way, with the fall update xbox LIVE recieved, the 360 upscales every 1080i game to 1080p. Obviously its not as good as Native 1080p resolution, but it’s still awesome.
Damn Sony fanboys suck major d*ck! The Piece of Sh*t 3 must be a c*ck-monster!
