World of Warcraft Expansion: Burning CrusadeBlizzard Entertainment today announced that the release date for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the first expansion for World of Warcraft, is delayed until January 2007. By adding a few extra weeks to the development cycle beyond its original target date, Blizzard will be able to extend the closed beta test and further refine the new content that will ship with the game.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm surrounding World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, and we’re excited about putting the finishing touches on all of the new content,” said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We feel confident that the extra time spent polishing the game will result in the high-quality experience that our players expect and deserve.”

Blizzard began the closed-beta phase of testing on World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade earlier this month. The January 2007 release window will allow extra time for current beta testers to participate in the final stages of development and continue providing valuable feedback.

Further information on specific worldwide release dates, pricing, and other details will be announced later. Via WoW

I for one, am partially glad it’s pushed to January. I would have been happier had it been released by now, but if they are going to release it, the end of november is a bad idea. It gives people the chance to level to seventy during christmas breaks which blows. Its unfair that all lvl seventies or people with lvl’ing advantage should be reduced to anyone teaching or attending a high school or junior high, so that the rest of us who don’t live with mommy and daddy have to struggle to catch up with new game content.
Having it released during a summer vacation or for a christmas vacation is favortism, even tho it was never meant to be.

Whatever. Blizzard can do whatever the heck it wants, because we all know that as much as we bitch, we’re going to buy it. They may push dates, but they always have delivered games that are genuinely fun to play, and the expansion looks like it’s going to keep up that tradition.

Besides, there’s always going to be complainers. Either it came out on time, in which case people complain about bugs, or it comes out in January, in which case people complain about release date.

Pfft, the way I see it is that I have more time to get my full set of might gear to help me level up once the expansion comes out.

Not to mention im close to grand marshal, so this gives me time to hit the rank.
