World of Warcraft Expansion: Burning CrusadeBlizzard Entertainment today announced that the release date for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the first expansion for World of Warcraft, is delayed until January 2007. By adding a few extra weeks to the development cycle beyond its original target date, Blizzard will be able to extend the closed beta test and further refine the new content that will ship with the game.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm surrounding World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, and we’re excited about putting the finishing touches on all of the new content,” said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We feel confident that the extra time spent polishing the game will result in the high-quality experience that our players expect and deserve.”

Blizzard began the closed-beta phase of testing on World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade earlier this month. The January 2007 release window will allow extra time for current beta testers to participate in the final stages of development and continue providing valuable feedback.

Further information on specific worldwide release dates, pricing, and other details will be announced later. Via WoW

I’m actually kinda glad. This will give me some time to get gear from the current raids while it’s still useful. I was worried I’d miss out on all that 60 raid content because nobody’s gonna care about it when the expansion comes out. At least, not at first.

I was looking forward to making my blood elf priestess…. but I can wait. I’d rather it be working right than play it now full of bugs.

thousands of people have already left wow and gone back to EQ. (who have brought out several expansions recently and have improved the game beyond recognition compared to the “old days”)
i have aleady got many level 60s over 3 different servers, with other chars up to the 40 and 50s. Cant wait any longer, kicking my heals doing the same old stuff..if they are so slow, blizz should have employed more people to get the job done a lot quicker than this. waiting till november was really bad, but january?? come on that is crazy. And as soon as this expansion is released, they should already be beginning work on the next one. More quests at highish levels would be welcome too,(i mean proper quests, not just instances which you need a group for) which could be addressed via the weekly maintenence/patch time. In the meanwhile, i guess i will cancel my account and get a life…!
