World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade release date delayed until January 2007

World of Warcraft Expansion: Burning CrusadeBlizzard Entertainment today announced that the release date for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the first expansion for World of Warcraft, is delayed until January 2007. By adding a few extra weeks to the development cycle beyond its original target date, Blizzard will be able to extend the closed beta test and further refine the new content that will ship with the game.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm surrounding World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, and we’re excited about putting the finishing touches on all of the new content,” said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We feel confident that the extra time spent polishing the game will result in the high-quality experience that our players expect and deserve.”

Blizzard began the closed-beta phase of testing on World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade earlier this month. The January 2007 release window will allow extra time for current beta testers to participate in the final stages of development and continue providing valuable feedback.

Further information on specific worldwide release dates, pricing, and other details will be announced later. Via WoW

That f*cking blows!

You really didn’t expect blizz to release something on time, did you? lol

unbelievable.
January what!?? 30th?? too much fun to watch us crack heads twitch and writhe?

pick a deadline and stick to it or fire your project managers.

LF39M for on blizz offices.. can we pug this?

AHHHHHH.

Blizard has a reputation for pushing game release dates, back BUT they always kick ass when released. Any bugs found on the new relases are usually small or quickly fixed, and don’t crash your computer.

Besides it gives you pleanty of time to prepare your special care packages to email your characters.

Aw man… So much for spending the holidays levelling up with friends to level 70 :/

kek

In hearing comments from a current BC beta tester, the game crashes quite frequently. WoW by itself is fine.

I think it’s a great plan. Ultimately there’s no good reason to push a product to market if it is not ready. It’s either listen to you guys moan that it’s delayed (NOW) or listen to you whine if they released it and it had problems (LATER).

Fix it, test it and give us a product that we’ll all be happy with — however much EXTRA time it takes. Kudos to Blizz!
