Video Chat and other PS3 features available at launch

Resistance: Fall of ManWhen Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kaz Hirai was asked by Nextgen about PlayStation 3’s network details he confirmed an interesting feature for anticipated launch first-person shooter Resistance: Fall of Man. In addition to 40 person multiplayer he said the game will support “video chat, text chat, voice chat, rankings for games, downloading additional content for your games like levels, weapons or characters depending on the game and their online capabilities.”

While the other features were already confirmed, video chat was previously unannounced for PS3. Sony hasn’t confirmed the release of the PS3’s Eye Toy camera at launch, but it will be available in Japan for the Eye Toy game Eye of Judgement.

Sounds like North Americans buying a PS3 at launch, will also be able to buy the PS3 Eye Toy camera on November 17. He also confirmed there are going to be a bit less than 20 launch titles, because they want to spread the games out over the rest of the year, but a final list of launch games will be revealed a few weeks before November 17.
