Europa Universalis 3 announced for PC in early 2007

Publish Koch Media announced “Europa Universalis III” from game developer Paradox Interactive for an American & European release date of Q1 2007.
The latest game in the strategy series spans a historically accurate period of 300 years of global history from 1453 to 1789 and delves into areas of exploration, trade, warfare and diplomacy, with players taking control of any nation and embarking on an epic journey to become a great global empire.
Players are given total freedom in how to rule their nation, be it with diplomacy and extensive trading, or perhaps with a strong industrial base and formidable army and navy support.
Use the game’s Court System and summon before you personalities like Sir Isaac Newton, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or René Descartes. Have them advise you on strategy and diplomacy to help you win the game!
Developer Paradox yesterday posted a development update saying: “The game is moving forward at a great pace and is extremely fun to play right now.”
And continued: “A lot of focus have been done on the AI this last few weeks, improving invasion ahnd transport AI, while making it fight proper campaigns. The standard tactic of always controlling the curia was no longer a nobrainer option when the AI decided to protect their cardinals. The interface team have worked a lot on developing tooltips, streamlining interfaces and making the game easier to play. The map guys have revised the look of the cities on maps, and been adding several more features to the map. Our new metaserver works nicely, with several more userfriendly options for multiplayer.”
In closing Johan mentioned: “Religions are grouped in Eu3, and religions in the same group gives you specific tolerance sliders, while you gain a one for entire groups of others. Effects of each religion can be scripted totally, and a modder can also define some other characteristics for a religion, including which can access the papacy.”
