2K Games today announced the release of Sid Meier’s Civilization Chronicles for $69.99 on the PC in October, 2006. It contains almost every Civilization game, that’s 4 Firaxis Civilization games and 5 expansions, except for the new expansion Civilization IV: Warlords & 1999’s Activision-developed Civilization: Call to Power.
For the record, what you’re getting is: Civilization, Civilization II, Civilization II: Fantastic Worlds, Civilization II: Conflicts in Civilization, Civilization II: Test of Time, Civilization III, Civilization III: Play the World, Civilization III: Conquests, and Civilization IV…
The Civilization Chronicles compilation set will also include these extras:
* Civilization: The Card Game, an original tabletop card game based on Civilization IV rules. The game has more than 250 cards, and is designed by Civilization IV lead designer Soren Johnson.
* The Chronicles of Civilization book. At 96 pages, the tome outlines the history of the franchise via interviews with its creator, Walk of Game member Sid Meier, and prominent designers such as Soren Johnson. Also included is an essay on Civilization’s importance in the game industry in general and the PC game sector in particular.
* A DVD with a video featurette outlining the making of Civilization IV, hosted by Soren Johnson. The disc will also contain gameplay footage from, and trailers of, almost every Civilization game.
