[...] After my experience thought, I must say I felt a little empty and spent a little while trying to work out why - I mean I’d just played a PLAYSTATION 3, the system with the ability to cause Massive Damage! While the graphics were nice and physics were good (albeit a little sluggish) the game just didn’t excite me. Motostorm didn’t come anywhere near to the amount of fun I have had playing Excite Truck recently; partly due to the controller (PS3 used a standard thumbstick, Excite Truck uses Wiimote like a steering wheel) but mostly due to the implementation – arcade v realism. Now I realise that everyone likes different sorts of games – me, I like arcade style games where things don’t have to obey the laws of physics – but nonetheless this demonstrated that the graphics will not necessarily make a good game and sway you towards it if the gameplay just ain’t there. Graphics can’t do enough to give you the emotional satisfaction that you want. [...]

[...] If you’ve had the most undistinguished privilege of playing Genji: Days Of The Blade, or watched any of the hilarity that’s been passed around the intertubes concerning the words “based on actual history,” “giant crabs,” and “massive damage,” you might be familiar with the evil purple-glowy skull-faced enormous arthropod that you battle, flip to expose its weakness, and then obliterate with, well…massive amounts of…damage.
