I was so excited when I finally beat this game...but then I found out there was a SECOND quest. Me and my brother spent all day (literrally!) In the living room playing this game and beat it in 14 hours, without an FAQ or anything, and it was our first time! I'll never forget the fun I had playin that game...*sigh*..but now I'm stumped on twilight princess :l that sucks haha memories...anyhoo I had a really fun time readin' your review! Byee

I just stumbled upon this review, and I'm REALLY glad you didn't give this game perfect scores in any department. While this game was a trendsetter in many ways, it has a few large flaws, most notably the "Item Experimentation" system where you have to roam everywhere and try all of your items if you get stuck. Maybe it's just me but that seems like a way to squeeze a whole lot of "gameplay" into the game and not actually provide anything new. As someone that grew up without an NES I can tell you that this game feels completely impossible to be coming into it cold.

Wow, thanks a lot Robert! I really appreciate you using my writing. :) Very cool idea for a site as well.

It makes me sad that our new(ish) redesign messed up the layout of my old reviews like in this Zelda review. Some time I will go through and fix it and add higher quality/larger pictures. But there are so many reviews that it'll take a while to do that.

Anyhoo, thanks for reading! :)

I really like your blog! I cited you in a post about the original Legend of Zelda at http://timelines.com/1987/8/22/nintendo-releases-the-legend-of-zelda-for-the-nes-in-north-america.

The event is part of a larger timeline about the history of video games: http://timelines.com/topics/video-games. Our idea is to create an interactive historical record of anything and everything, based on specific events that combine to form timelines. We're trying to achieve a sort of user-created multimedia encyclopedia, in which no event is too big and no event is too small, and where each event can contain various types of resources, such as video, images, maps, etc. It's also a good way to direct traffic to your blog because your events will pop up along with anything else that's thematically related.

Thanks for looking!
