Video Game Openings – Final Fantasy VIII
There is nothing that gets your blood primed and pumped for the game ahead like a really good intro or opening.
Anyone remember the first time you saw the glorious CG openings of some of Square’s best-titles? Such as those from the Playstation-era Final Fantasy titles (VIII & X are two of my favorites of all time).
What about those of: Super Metroid, Ninja Gaiden 2 (NES), Resident Evil 2, Turok 2, Super Mario RPG, Devil May Cry 3, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn, Halo 2, Metal Gear Solid 2, Banjo Kazooie, Outcast, Onimusha 3, Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks or Tekken 3? A good game opening sets the stage and excites the player, immediatly catching their interest.
And with that, I have decided to post the intro and/or opening movies to my favorite games, as well as cool ones that I come across (even if I never played the game) for your viewing pleasure. And so the first opening in this new series is one of my favorites of all time . . . the opening for Final Fantasy VIII!
Feast your eyes on the video below, and please don’t be shy about leaving comments. Do you remember the first time you saw this opening? What did you think? How about those who have never seen it?
