Scarface Collector’s Edition announced. Say hello on October 8th.

Scarface Collector\'s EditionVivendi Games has been working on a game based on the classic crime drama Scarface, the movie that made popular the phrase “Say hello to my little friend“, for a while now. Eventually coined Scarface: The World Is Yours, it was delayed from its original fall 2005 release, and it’s Xbox 360 edition was abruptly cancelled last month (for some strange reason, hopefully it will return after the game is completed/released).

Today though Vivendi has announced that the M-rated game, which sees Tony Montona surviving his death and proceeding to take over the violent Miami underworld of the 1980’s (in a Vice City-style free-roaming city) will indeed be releasing this fall. Specifically on October 8th in North America for Xbox, Playstation 2 ($50) and PC ($40). A PSP version, titled Scarface: Money. Power. Respect., which is a strategy game and not an action adventure, will also be released sometime in October (if it remains on schedule).

Those that pre-order that game at “participating retailers” will recieve a 24×30 L.A. Pop Art poster portraying an iconic film scene created out of the text of the original games script. (literally?) Also announced will be a Limited Edition of the game ($60), released only for PS2. It comes in a steel case ala Perfect Dark Zero or Halo 2 and will come with a bonus DVD that contains a Making of the Gamebehind-the-scenes documentary, a walkthrough with commentary from Scarface’s producers, hints and tips, and concept art.

The Making of the Game doc will also feature interviews with Scarface’s large cast, which includes James Woods, Jay Mohr, Cheech Marin, Tommy Chong, Ice T, Shaft star Richard Roundtree, Bam Margera, Wilmer Valderrama, Daniel Dae Kim, Kevin Dillon, Tommy Lee, Michael Rooker, and NASCAR racer Dale Earnhardt, Jr, among others.

Also appearing in the game are original cast members Steven Bauer (real name: Esteban Echevarria) and Robert Loggia, who played Montana’s partner and boss, respectively.

Sadly, the Scarface game will not feature the voice talents of Al Pacino, the Tony Montana star himself. The developer did however snag the rights to Al Pacino’s likeness, so the in-game character model will look like him.
