Konami celebrates Frogger’s 25th birthday with new My Frogger Toy Trials DS game
Konami will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its long-running Frogger series with an all-new adventure for the Nintendo DS called “My Frogger Toy Trials”. You can take a look at the intro and gameplay movies on the official Frogger site.
Having made his debut in 1981 in the seminal arcade game, Frogger is back and this time paired with a secondary character called Hero as they try to win a toy pet competition, the main prize being a wish that will make all their dreams come true.
Retaining the popular platform game action that has been the backbone of the series, the game allows players to hop higher and dodge faster than ever before, while My Frogger Toy Trials also features innovative new mini-games that take full advantage of the Nintendo DS touch screen and microphone. Coupled with a wealth of power-ups and a challenging four-player wireless head-to-head mode, DS owners can look forward to the most challenging Frogger game to date.
My Frogger Toy Trials unusual plots tells of a company named Tobi Inc. which has developed a way to transform a child’s drawing of his or her ideal pet into a real toy pet with a will of its own.
The company is holding a competition to find the best idea, and Hero and Frogger decide to enter. As players make their way through the game, they will control both Hero and Frogger as the pair attempt to solve touch-pad and microphone-based puzzles, and collect new costumes to obtain power ups such as super speed and sticking ability.
My Frogger Toy Trials will be released for Nintendo DS in Europe in November, and in America in December 2006.
