Super Smash Bros Brawl creators hint at Sonic as the next Wii fighter

Update: It’s now official, Sonic the Hedgehog IS in Super Smash Bros Brawl.

According to Smash Bros. series director Masahiro Sakurai, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima had personally asked to have Snake included in the previous game, Super Smash Bros. Melee on GameCube, but the project was already too close to completion when the request was made. Nintendo hopes that Snake’s appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii will encourage other publishers to allow their characters to join the Smash Bros. line-up, and is already actively negotiating for the rights to include at least one or two other non-Nintendo character. Both Masahiro Sakurai and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto have stated that Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog is the character that Smash Bros. fans have requested the most!

The game’s design team is made up of all-stars: Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu has composed the Super Smash Bros. Brawl main title theme, and Solid Snake creator Hideo Kojima will be designing a level in the game, most likely Metal Gear Solid. Bowser Jr., Wind Waker Link, and Ridley have not yet been confirmed. It was a rumor that was started on GameFAQs.com and got way out of control. Sakurai has never once even insinuated that G&W, Ice Climbers, and Young Link are out.

Im sick of ppl critiscizing other ppls suggestions for who can be in brawl. They put snake from sony, they can put Cloud if they damn well please!Personally id like to see:
Ike
Sephiroth(i can dream)
Ridley
Ganon (monster form)
Birdo
Sonic
Megaman

and they should definetly replace the old pokemon with new ones.

I think that Nintendo should put just the two main hedgehogs into Brawl. Sonic and Shadow. What would tails do any way, cry like a baby. I can see Knuckles in there as well, in fact I would also lie him in there, but Sonic the most. Also, make sure Shiek is still in theree.

i think Sonic would be quick like fox, but probly all-around like Mario. something that would be interesting is if he (or Shadow) were bosses, they’d be in Super form. or if Sonic picked up a Star, it’d do the classic invincibility theme from Sonic I or II, or he’d go Super Sonic or something. i’m just having fun imagining it right now, but nothing too serious. but everyone (pretty much) wants Sonic, and they wanted him in Melee as well. (look for the hoax screenshots.) isn’t there a saying in advertising about the customer always being right or something like that?

Square characters in SSBB? Unlikely. In fact, Square might as well make there own fighting game where Cloud can fight Sora and something like that.

Sonic should DEFINITELY be in there because if he isnt people will crack and there will be mass riot. Okay, im over-reacting but if they do, we can finally let the games begin…………

Personally, if they took out characters, i would recommend pichu, falco and marth because they’re just copies of main characters and there’s not much difference with them.

on the Pokemon remark, i disagree since it still lives and maybe deoxys or jirachi would make good fighters.

On megaman,i dont agree to much, as theres already someone with an arm cannon but that would be nice

In fact, they might as well put the whole bunch of sega guys. Yup, put Sonic, Tails , Knuckles and Amy(Someones gotta teach them how to use hammers). I dont think Shadow will be good, cause it will just be a copy of Sonic.

the only pokemon that should be would either have to be sceptile or blaziken they were the best on ruby and sapphire
