Super Smash Bros Brawl creators hint at Sonic as the next Wii fighter

Update: It’s now official, Sonic the Hedgehog IS in Super Smash Bros Brawl.

According to Smash Bros. series director Masahiro Sakurai, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima had personally asked to have Snake included in the previous game, Super Smash Bros. Melee on GameCube, but the project was already too close to completion when the request was made. Nintendo hopes that Snake’s appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii will encourage other publishers to allow their characters to join the Smash Bros. line-up, and is already actively negotiating for the rights to include at least one or two other non-Nintendo character. Both Masahiro Sakurai and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto have stated that Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog is the character that Smash Bros. fans have requested the most!

The game’s design team is made up of all-stars: Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu has composed the Super Smash Bros. Brawl main title theme, and Solid Snake creator Hideo Kojima will be designing a level in the game, most likely Metal Gear Solid. I think if sonic will be in ssbb they should throw in eggman as well. Have him be in his ship.. or a smaller version of the egg walker from Sonic Adventure DX.

And I’m silently hoping, hoping, HOPING for Mog or a Moggle as a playable character! I think it’d be a perfect fit! Moogles do feature heavily in Final Fantasy III for the DS and are PLAYABLE in Mario Basketball 3 on 3, which is made by Square. So yes, Square characters a total possibility.

Other Square characters I’d love to see are:
Vivi, Cloud, Auron or Eiko

Yes, the Bubble Bobble Dragons, but more importantly MEGAMAN!!! (preferrably MMX, but MM would be cool too, and more likely.)

Come on, megaman is at least the third most recognized name in gaming, he deserves it, and I don’t hear nearly enough support for him. That said, other characters might be more interesting to actually play as… but megaman is so well suited. (An American character would be nice, like Pitfall Harry, or Earthworm Jim.)

Oh and about the news, GREAT! Mario and Sonic in the same game…? I don’t know if the world can withstand it! Also, if there’s actually a good story line… the possibilities are baffling.

I’d love to see Bomberman and Bonk. They would fit in perfectly. Bowser Jr. and Muddy the Mole could make a nice debut…

I agree, the pokemon are getting old, but what if it was a good one, like Charmander? Everyone loves Charmander. And some of his moves would make him evolve, or he would evolve and become more powerful as his percentage hits increase.
