Super Smash Bros Brawl creators hint at Sonic as the next Wii fighter

Update: It’s now official, Sonic the Hedgehog IS in Super Smash Bros Brawl.

According to Smash Bros. series director Masahiro Sakurai, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima had personally asked to have Snake included in the previous game, Super Smash Bros. Melee on GameCube, but the project was already too close to completion when the request was made. Nintendo hopes that Snake’s appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii will encourage other publishers to allow their characters to join the Smash Bros. line-up, and is already actively negotiating for the rights to include at least one or two other non-Nintendo character. Both Masahiro Sakurai and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto have stated that Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog is the character that Smash Bros. fans have requested the most!

The game’s design team is made up of all-stars: Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu has composed the Super Smash Bros. Brawl main title theme, and Solid Snake creator Hideo Kojima will be designing a level in the game, most likely Metal Gear Solid. i want to see geno from mario rpg and maybe mallow and wolf o’donell from star fox and king k. rool from donkey kong

also ive heard that wind waker link ridley from metroid and baby bowser are going to be in the game i hope baby bowser can turn into shadow mario

Sonic (Must have)
Tails
Knuckles
Shadow the Hedgehog (Dark version of Sonic)
The robot that is a member of Team Dark in Sonic Heroes (can’t think of his name offhand)
Megaman

That’s all I can think of for the moment.

My List, at least a sensible one, not a fanboy one:

Sonic (duh)
Either Knuckles or Metal Sonic
Megaman
Geno would be cool.
Diddy Kong (there’s no other DK characters?!)
Dark Samus (although there’s already an alternate Samus, the Zero Suit)
Pac-Man would be great for kicks

2 - X (Megaman) kind of like kirby with gaining skills
3 - any of the classic Final Fantasy characters (FF6 and below) maybe MOG
4 - Megaman (classic)
5 - maybe a make your own character engine

Well seeing as how WW Link, Ridley (Metroid) and Bowser jr. have been confirmed as characters, that should add to the hype, showing that any Nintendo (and hopefully some other non-Nintendo) players can be added. Also, Ice Climbers, Young Link and Mr. Game & Watch will not be duking out any matches this time around.
