Guitar Hero II rocks its way to a new $100 million home

PS2 Guitar Hero BundleActivision now owns RedOctane, the publishers of the mega-hit Guitar Hero. According to a Security and Exchange Commission filing, the deal involved $99.9 million in cash and Activision stock.

Announced back in May, the deal also carries the potential for a bigger payout for former RedOctane shareholders if certain financial goals are met. As for the interesting info: The company is set to release the much-anticipated sequel, Guitar Hero 2, on the PlayStation 2 in November 2006.
