59,000 World of Warcraft accounts banned in June

World of WarcraftBlizzard is on a roll fighting gold-farmers and cheaters. From the WoW forum:

” As part of our efforts to eliminate cheating from World of Warcraft, we recently banned approximately 59,000 World of Warcraft accounts in the month of June, and with that removed well over 22 million gold from the total economy across all realms. While we regret having to take such extreme action, these accounts were participating in activities that directly violated World of Warcraft’s Terms of Use, including the use of third-party programs to farm gold and items. Such behavior not only negatively impacts the economy of a realm, it diminishes the achievements of those who play legitimately. We will continue to aggressively monitor all World of Warcraft realms in order to protect the service and our players from the harmful effects of cheating.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the community for their assistance in reporting suspicious behavior. Numerous account closures come as the direct result of tips reported to our GMs in-game or emailed to hacks@blizzard.com.

Moving forward, if you suspect that a World of Warcraft player is using an illegal third-party program to farm gold or items, or is otherwise violating our Terms of Use, please report the suspected infraction using one of the methods listed above. All reports will be investigated, and the appropriate action will be taken when warranted

We appreciate your support and wish you the best with your continued adventures in Azeroth!”

Thanks to wowfan for sending this in and mentioning that to improve the game for their 6.5 million subscribers by banning these cheaters Blizzard is now losing $884.410 in revenue at 14.99 a month. Although I think most of these bot-using goldfarmers will simply return right away on a different account, so banning them might actually earn Blizzard more money, how’s that for irony.

I agree with Shela, I was banned as well and I believe that there Warden system which they use to protect the client is doing something it should not be. I will admin to having tried a bot for about 10 minutes to find that it was horrible and removed it. I will still hit. Most people who were using a 3rd party application were not using it to bot. They were using it for a different mod. It shows you on the map where minerial veins and hebrs are. That’s it. Some people are running 4 accounts and say they are botting on 2 of them but DO NOT bot on the other 2 yet all 4 get banned? Blizz is on a WITCH hunt. I hope they F**K themselfs with this crap.

My account is banned for no reason! I was just playing and then it logged me out , I tryed to get in but it says my account is banned. I didn’t do anything wrong I just used addons , but I think they are not the reason for bann. I used Yatlas , some Atlas addons and nothing more. Damn , while my account is banned some hackers and spammers are playing and no1 won’t stop them. Blizzard witch hunt is nothing then a big black SHIT.
