Alien Homonid and Castle Crashers announced for Xbox Live Arcade
Add #51 on the counter for Xbox Live Arcade games to be out this year, because on the Comic-Con show floor the Behemoth gameplay designer/programmer Tom Fulp and lead artist Dan Paladin spoke about their two latest projects: Alien Homonid 360 (widescreen remake due 2006) and Castle Crashers (new game due first quarter 2007) for Xbox Live Arcade.
Alien Homonid 360 will have 2-player online co-op. Castle Crashers will have 4-player online co-op, gameplay trailer:
They decided to shun traditional retail distribution, the possibility of online multiplayer and episodic content on Xbox 360 was very appealing to them. Especially considering a small developer like the Behemoth wouldn’t have to search for a retail publisher and thus lose income. Game pricing is a lot cheaper too, so it’s really like a win, win, win situation for everyone thanks to direct download.
From GameInformer‘s interview: What’s the overall plot for the game?
Answer: They take your idol from your town and they take your princesses. And you’re more out to just destroy everything and find out where it is. You don’t really have any idea where you’re going. The guys are kind of like anti-heroes. You still root for them, but they’re not really being very straightforward about it.
