Wii shown lots of EA love. The Godfather and more headed to Nintendo’s system
EA is currently showing off their wares at their EA Summer Showcase event where a bunch of new games were announced. Many of them will also be playable.
The best news for Nintendo fans however is the announcement that EA is FULLY backing the Nintendo Wii with several new games announced for the system, all of which will have Wii-exlucusive features that will use the controller in innovative new ways.
Says EA senior vice president John Schappert, “Once we started to experiment with Madden on Wii, there was an explosion of innovation. Everyone in the studio is energized by the creative opportunity afforded by both the hardware and controller.”
The new games announced for Wii include: A brand-new Harry Potter game, a new SSX game, Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’07 (So we can swing our Wiimote golf clubs in something other than Nintendo’s Wii Sports), and in what is the biggest surprise, a Wii version of M-rated The Godfather, proving that the Wii won’t be home to only kid-centric titles.
And those titles are in addition to the already announced Madden NFL ’07 and Need for Speed: Carbon, all of which are Wii-bound.
No news yet on release dates for these titles (though Madden will most likely hit at launch and other EA launch games are definitely a possibility) but EA was quick to point out that even more Wii titles are in development. News on what else EA has planned for the system will be announced in the coming months as the launch-date for the Wii approaches.
