Age of Empires 1 and 2 move their online multiplayer to GameSpy Arcade

Age of Empires 2 GoldThis week on June 19th, the first two Age of Empires games found a new online home. Apparently Microsoft & Ensemble Studios didn’t want to continue maintaining the game, so GameSpy Arcade has agreed to assume multiplayer hosting duties for Age of Empires 1, 2 & their expansion packs.

According to Ensemble, player-created ladders and friends lists, in addition to basic online matchmaking services, will now be supported by the free version of GameSpy Arcade.
