“Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary Edition” for PSP cancelled (or not)

Updated: Yesterday Eidos responded that a remake’s still on for PS2, PSP & PC later this year, thanks 1up for messing up.

PSP Lara Croft Tomb Raider: LegendCore Design was developing a PSP remake of Lara Croft’s Playstation debut for PSP, but a recent review by SCi resulted in the project’s cancellation. A leaked video of the project, shown below, was “an unauthorised release of an internal presentation of a game that was being developed by Core Design until very recently” running on a PSP and a Core-developed game engine.

Using the new Legend engine, this game looked really good, it’s sad to see it go. But look at the bright side, the new game “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend” for PSP will be released next week on June 20, 2006.

Im confused… some sites say its cancelled and some other sites say its not. so whats the deal??? and if it isnt cancelled when would it come out!!!!!!

Jenni, don’t worry it IS coming out later this year, there just hasn’t been a release date announced.

the one you saw above is canceled and fyi it was created with a core design developed engine, not the crummy legend engine.

the new 10th anniversary edition is a crystal dynamics project most likely using the legend engine and lara model. it is a “best of” taking some of the more popular levels of tr1 and 2 and re-hashing them into some frankinstein-esque monster child
