New Coded Arms sequels for PS3 & PSP

PSP Coded ArmsCoded Arms: Contagion for PSP and Coded Arms: Assault for PS3. Both games develop the theme of the original, which thrust the player into a virtual reality training program that had evolved into an online battleground populated by viruses, hackers and security bots.

An evil corporation has now infiltrated the system, seizing its potential for world domination, forcing you to return to this brutal corner of cyberspace with the job of liberating it and returning it to the control of the Good People. As this is a VR world, weapons are ‘downloaded’, while your arsenal also includes deadly viruses. Here’s Konami’s trailer:

The PS3 game is powered by the Unreal 3 engine, with strategic use of the destructible scenery playing a key part in battles, while the campaign mode will be playable online in co-op with up to three other players, along with all the multiplayer modes you’d expect, catering for up to 16 players.

PSP gamers will get wireless and online multiplayer for up to eight players, with various modes designed around head-to-head and team-based confrontations. With control methods a sticky issue for many shooters on Sony’s handheld, the news that Coded Arms: Contagion will come with fully customisable button configurations is great.
