Blizzard Entertainment announced plans to focus the company’s console-development efforts on the next generation of console platforms. The biggest news to come with this announcement is the indefinite postponement of production on StarCraft: Ghost, the console title first revealed to the gaming media back in 2002 for Xbox, Playstation 2 & GameCube to dismay of PC fans.
To quote the press release: …
“Like many in the industry, we’ve been impressed with the potential of the new consoles, and we’re looking forward to exploring that potential further,” stated Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “In addition to allowing us to determine the best course for StarCraft: Ghost, this review period will help us lay the groundwork for our future console games.”
StarCraft: Ghost was meant as (and may still be) an action-adventure spin-off of the original sci-fi RTS, and sees you playing as a female ghost or stealth operative called Nova, who’s charged with undertaking the usual dangerous set of missions in the StarCraft universe.
